some of my favorite things that make me smile!

One of my main goals when decorating is; will it look nice not to cluttery but still within design? I like my house to look nice clean and organized, but that is hard to do when you have a family. One of my other goals is finding a balance of nice clean and organized but I also want it to look comfortable and lived in not stiff and cold, but still nice... hard balance but that is what goes through my mind when decorating oh and also whats the cheapest nicest way possible way to do it:)

I love love love love love a my main bathroom it makes me smile everytime I go in there, ( except for the lame sink and mirror that are in there one day will get changed>)

This is another thing in my house that when I walk by makes me happy! I love the colors so calming yet feel so happy! I have an obsession with these animals that are made out of things from outside so adorable I got mine at michaels for 1.99 and saw them at Anthropology for 12.99!!! talk about crazy markup!

I just finished recovering my pillows on my couch! I even learned how to put zippers in~ now I am a pro!
This is our TV room that now I love sitting in ... thats a problem:( I should have made it less inviting

What are some things in your house that make you smile?

working on

Isnt this chair lovely? Well I know it doesn't look so lovely right now but it will soon enough!

My sweet awesome adorable very giving hubby got me these shelves from Ikea last fall I love how organized they make me feel! This is in my craft room that will one day get a nice boost in the decor department one day. I plan to paint the shelves someday soon, for now it just makes me happy to look at.

pinterest?

Do you pinterest? These are some things I saw on Pinterest that inspired me, so I made them! I thought they turned out cute! So I have told myself that when all my chores are done i can get on pinterest:)

some of my latest and greatest

These are one of my favorite things right now.... picture this a night party and you have a million of these babies all over! you can make them how you want i went a little feminine with the lace be creative and decorate how you like. All it is, is a wine glass with velum paper (opaque paper) with a tea light. ( i suggest the flameless ones since this is paper on top.)

so cute!

This is my latest and greatest purchase the metal tray I love how vintage it looks with those handles... got this for 3 bucks at the thrift store.

I have had these puppies for a while but I just love them so I thought I would share with you.

Just purchased this awesome picture at Ross! What a treasure! Imagine it is centered I was just hanging it there for viewing purposes... since then it now has a permanent home on the wall now centered :)

I have so new projects coming up stay tuned~

coffee table

I got this beauty at the thrift store, 10 bucks so I couldn't pass it up I had a vision immediately and now it is just waiting for some chairs in my sitting area in my bedroom can't wait until the whole thing comes together.

I love the way it looks and adds some more brightness to the room!

refashion.

found this piece of work from the thrift store....(its Banana Republic looked brand new) I thought it was a dress, turns out it was a trench coat that is the same material as a dress shirt, weird I know but I saw its potential. ( and I purposely cut off my face because I had been to the pool that day and boy did I look scary!)

I took in the shoulders and added a military thing to them took in the dress about 10 sizes and then sewed up the front because the buttons stopped at the crotch area...not a good look I promise!!! I think it turned out pretty cute!!!

I had this pair of jeans (boot cut) sitting in my closed, not my favorite pair so they always just got overlooked... So I turned them inside out marked where I would need to sew all the way down on both sides and they made the cutest skinny jeans!!! now probably my favorite pair!

new hair color

oh and I got my hair done.... and when I say I got my hair done I mean I did it myself. lightened it just a bit... I like it!

Grant and Lincoln's room

My vision is not quite finished yet but I am nice enough to let you see the unfinished product since I know it will be quite a while until its done. I found the vintage comic tins at an Antique Mall and my mom bought the boys the big G and L from Joanne's. Grant's bed is refinished from craigslist and Lincoln has one in storage painted the same way one day there will be a really cool rug, canopy's above both beds and the dresser cut down to a better height with some lamps and some cute pics with a really cool mirror..... are you envisioning with me? Good.

bought this lamp from the thrift store for probable 2.50 and then I made this super cute shade out of sheets of wax paper that I ironed together and then cut out and sewed.......took many many nights but makes me happy!
This is made from random scrapbook paper and a foam wreath I just scrunched and hot glued, the beads are mardi gra beads that i spray painted so I could hang this beauty on the back of a dining room chair!

some stuff

Here are some fun things I have been working on...

My Mom loves cupcakes so I made this for her to hang in her Kitchen it turned out so bright and cheery

I bought the frame from Wal-Mart painted and antiqued it , added a sparkly scrapbook paper for the background and then stenciled on the KEEP calm eat a cupcake.

I found this old table on the side of the road.... and I had a vision flash before my eyes at how beautiful it could be...

VOILA!!! Isn't it lovely!!!

Spring has sprung

And now it is time for some spring color!!! WAHOOOOO!! You ever been to Charming Charly's, if not you should! They have great hats!

these sit in my entry way and makes me smile

Got this beauty from the thrift store... can't beat 3.00 for a beautiful mirror!

Don't you just love all the color? I do!!! makes me smile:)
My sister in law had this dresser in her basement it was a really ugly forest green color so I skipped myself to Home Depot and bought me some beautiful ocean blue spray paint! LOVE IT

this is one of my fav's

made this from a bunch of scrap black and white fabric! wrapped it round and round and round on a canvas... one day it will be hanging in the sitting area of my bedroom... when it is all finished I will let you take a peek!

my yard looks like this right now and I am in love....

Wow! When me and my cute hubby bought this house we had no idea the treasures it had hidden outside in those dead flower bushes.... This is what has been hiding and my yard looks like something from the secret garden!!!

So of course I needed to take advantage and bring the beauty inside and create these beauties!!! Have I mentioned I love spring?

if your favorite shirt rips

Just add a heart!

You can turn this

Into this!!

and then I became obsessed and made 2 more! they are super easy and look super chic!!!

take a normal long sleeved thin sweater cut up the middle. ruffle some of your fav jersey knit fabric down the middle sew one of the ruffles right on the edge where you cut, measure 1/2 -1 inch and sew the next ruffle and voila you have some super chic cardi's!! wahooo. *When you ruffle your jersey fabric make sure you ruffle down the middle and sew it on the sweater on the same stitch so you end up with 4 ruffles but only ruffled 2:)

Yep thats right I made these decorative balls, with just twine, elmer's glue, balloons and water! you can make them to!
Step 1. blow up balloons to the size that you want the balls to be
Step 2. mix 1 part elmers glue to 2 parts water (just double the amount of water to the amount of glue that you used, if you used an entire bottle of elmer's glue, which is what I did then just fill that same bottle up 2 times with water and wa-la you have your mixture)
Step 3: unravel twine and put it in the bowl of glue mixture, let it soak for a couple of minutes.
Step:4 wind the twine around your balloon until it is the design you like (just make sure you tuck the ends in good)
Step 5: lay them on a cookie sheet over night to dry:) I spray painted mine to go with the rest of my decor.
